Ethie Haworth Children’s Cancer Center

When your child has a serious blood disorder or a diagnosis of cancer, nothing matters as much as finding the very best chance for cure. Our Ethie Haworth Children’s Cancer Center at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized for excellence and innovation and is one of the largest children's cancer treatment programs in the Midwest.

Ethie Haworth and her husband Dick have been champions for the life-changing work being done by the pediatric hematology/oncology team, led by Jim Fahner, MD, since their grandson was diagnosed with leukemia as a young child. Ethie often came with Sam and his family to provide support during his treatment, and she knew immediately that this was a very special place, and a very special team of caregivers. She saw firsthand the compassion, expertise and dedication put forth by the incredible team, and since that time, the Haworths have been extraordinary advocates and supporters of the hospital. Their generosity has advanced research and precision medicine through the Haworth Family Innovative Therapies Clinic and now through the creation of our adolescent and young adult cancer program.

Our entire team is dedicated to providing your child and family with hope and healing through state-of-the-art care, including blood and marrow transplant, CAR T-Cell immunotherapy, promising new therapies through phase I, II, and III clinical trials, and a comprehensive adolescent and young adult cancer services program. We are one of the few children's hospitals across the country able to offer advanced forms of "personalized" or "precision" medicine for difficult childhood cancers.

Your child and family are the primary focus in each step we take, from diagnostic testing and new treatment to outstanding specialists, access to clinical trials and much more. And when your child is ready, we have a unique, long-term follow-up clinic for childhood cancer survivors.

For children with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, our federally recognized comprehensive hemophilia treatment center and multidisciplinary clinics are designed specifically for children and young adults with these conditions, and are here to help with advanced treatments and care coordination. Your child and family are the primary focus in each step we take, from diagnostic testing and new treatment to outstanding specialists, access to clinical trials and much more. And when your child is ready, we have a unique, long-term follow-up clinic for childhood cancer survivors.
