Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support (PFCCS) is a major resource for those interested in learning how to recognize critical illnesses and initiate care for the critically ill pediatric patient. It also serves as a valuable education tool for those entering the field of pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric critical care, and disaster response medicine.

Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners designates this live activity for a maximum of 17 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Target Audience

This program is directed toward physicians, hospitalists, advanced practice providers, transport teams, nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and other health care professionals involved in pediatric critical care and emergency medicine.

Purpose

  • To prepare physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, transports and paramedics for the first 24 hours of pediatric critical care until transferred or appropriate critical care consultation is obtained.
  • To prepare non-intensivists to manage acute deterioration of critically ill pediatric patients.
  • To prepare pediatric, emergency medicine and surgical house staff for pediatric critical care medicine.

Course Objectives

  • Prioritize assessment needs for the critically ill or injured infant or child
  • Select appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Identify and respond to significant changes in the unstable pediatric patient
  • Recognize and initiate management of acute, life-threatening conditions
  • Determine the need for expert consultation and/or patient transfer

Cost

The registration fee for this course is $400 for physicians and $300 for all other health care professionals.

Registration fees include course material, breakfasts, lunches and breaks.
