Multiple pregnancy

Carrying more than one baby is known as a multiple pregnancy. Twins are the most common type of multiple pregnancy. Triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets or more, are less common. If you have a multiple pregnancy, you may be at risk for: 

  • Preeclampsia 
  • Anemia 
  • Gestational diabetes 
  • Hyperemesis gravidarum 
  • Placenta previa 
  • Premature rupture of the membranes and preterm labor 
  • Fetal growth abnormalities 
  • Fetal anomalies
