As a Level 1 trauma center, we’re proud to provide world-class trauma care to our community. But we never stop asking—what can we do better? We’re driven to not only provide exceptional treatment but to also build a world-class research program.
Fueled by collaboration and innovation, our clinical researchers focus on continuous performance and quality improvement activities. At the heart of the program is population-directed research, which is dedicated to the most common injuries we see in our community, like motor vehicle crashes and falls. Research efforts have led to multiple quality improvements, such as a new rib fracture protocol to increase survival rates of what can be a fatal injury in the elderly, and high fidelity simulation to optimize our treatment of patients with life threatening bleeding.
We’re working hard to transform trauma care in West Michigan, so that we can continue to care for the patients of today and never stop improving for the patients of tomorrow.
