Value and Transparency
At Spectrum Health, we're working on many fronts to achieve a single goal: making health care better. "Better," as we see it, means improving value—finding new ways to ensure and deliver health care that is efficient, accessible, appropriate and of the highest quality. At Spectrum Health, we provide value using multiple evolving strategies, all designed to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
We are one of eight Michigan health care organizations that have joined forces to create greater value for our patients and communities. We focused on improving value through:
- Clinical quality and best practices
- Community health improvement programs that address health disparities for at-risk populations
- Advocacy and representation for a variety of Michigan communities on policy issues
Our quality is among the nation's best, while our costs are among the nation's lowest. Likewise, Priority Health's health premiums rank in the lowest quartile when benchmarked against regional competitors.
Spectrum Health was the first health care provider in West Michigan to make quality data publicly available, and we were among the first in the nation to post average prices on the web for 200 common health care services. We believe making this sort of information available to the public is a catalyst for improvement—and is vital to making health care better.
