Volunteer at Ludington hospital

We welcome volunteers at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital. Whether you’re transporting patients, working in the gift shop, helping with registration, or selling popcorn, you will have the fulfillment of knowing you’re helping others and allowing us to better serve our patients.

Volunteers help in many ways. They conduct fundraising events, make and sell popcorn to visitors and staff, work in the gift shop, or serve on the volunteer services board. Volunteers also function as patient escorts and mail couriers, as well as help in ambulatory surgery, the lab, nursing, hospital administration, human resources, accounting, the emergency department, the cancer center and other areas.

Because all volunteers have specific skills and interests, we will do our best to place you in an area where your talents can be used to help patients, visitors and hospital staff.

Our volunteers:

  • Bring valuable skills to hospital staff and are a vital part of the hospital team
  • Give more than 20,000 hours each year
  • Have a common desire to serve the community
  • Include both men and women who are retirees, working professionals and students
  • Receive a uniform and required immunizations, free of charge, along with special recognition and a snack pass for completed shifts

Next steps and orientation

If your skills and interests meet an existing need, a representative from volunteer services will contact you to schedule an interview. If we cannot identify a match at this time, we will keep your file open for six months. We will contact you within that time if an opening becomes available that we believe may interest you.

Following a satisfactory interview, we must complete a background check. We ask you to meet additional requirements (free of charge and with our assistance) such as a seasonal flu shot. We require all volunteers to sign a confidentiality agreement, commitment statement and Corewell Health’s Code of Excellence. We will provide a uniform and volunteer name badge.

Volunteers are required to attend a one-day orientation with new staff members. This gives each volunteer the opportunity to learn about the organization and your role in it. Following the general orientation session, specific training is provided in the area in which you are assigned. Training timeframes are flexible and based on your needs and comfort level.
