Research in pulmonary rehabilitation overwhelmingly supports its benefits in reducing shortness of breath and fatigue and improved physical capability.
Pulmonary rehabilitation has been shown to improve respiratory symptoms, quality of life, decrease exacerbations, and reduce health care utilization in persons with COPD.
You need a referral from your doctor or lung specialist to participate in pulmonary rehabilitation. Upon receiving the referral, we will contact you and set up a time for your initial evaluation. During your visit, we will design an exercise plan specifically for you and your disease. You will come for 16 to 24 sessions, which includes education classes. Our team of respiratory therapists and exercise specialists who specialize in pulmonary rehabilitation, will be working with you.
Some people are sometimes discouraged or afraid to participate in a pulmonary rehabilitation program due to their shortness of breath or current exercise level. If this is you, then this program is the best thing to help you reduce your shortness of breath and improve your health. Our gym is not your everyday fitness club – walkers, canes and oxygen tanks are common.
