Cochlear Implants for Children

When your child is born deaf or suffers severe hearing loss later in life, a cochlear implant is a surgically implanted device that may restore hearing. Cochlear devices specifically help replace functions of the inner ear, or cochlea. The cochlear implant uses electric signals to stimulate the auditory nerve.

Though cochlear implants are a relatively new solution to hearing loss, here at Spectrum Health we’ve been successfully providing cochlear implant surgery and services for over a decade, helping hundreds of children overcome their hearing loss. From diagnosis and determining the right solution for your child, to the surgery itself and all of the recovery, to device “tune ups” and speech therapy, our team is with you and your child every step of the way.
