Cancer Health Partner Program

The Cancer Health Patient and Family Partner Program was established in 2006 to help continually improve cancer care at Spectrum Health.

Focus

The Cancer Health PFPP aims to help Spectrum Health raise the bar in its cancer programs.

Accomplishments

The program has:
  • Advised on the needs of bone marrow transplant patients
  • Led the push for collaboration with regional hospitals so that no matter where a patient lives, they can receive quality cancer care
  • Partnered with Healthier Communities and local churches to promote screening mammograms
  • Provided feedback on oncology programs and initiatives, including
    • Cancer care coordinator program
    • Cancer survivor database
    • Multispecialty team program
    • Tumor board program
  • Provided input on how to make the process of parking, finding the right room and getting to an appointment easier for patients and families
  • Provided input on Lemmon-Holton Cancer Pavilion facilities, including:
    • Bone and marrow transplant areas
    • Gynecologic oncology areas
    • Specialty Shop items
  • Reviewed patient and visitor information to make sure they get what they need in a format that is useful to them
  • Served as "mystery shoppers" to observe the effectiveness of teamwork at various sites throughout Spectrum Health
  • Supported the Art in Healing program for cancer patients and family members
