Fit & Healthy Families

This fall, join us and take a break from screen time by getting active outside with your family. This fun-filled program is for elementary aged kids and their families, to help them live healthier lifestyles. Zeeland Hospital is excited to partner with Outdoor Discovery Center and hit the trails, enjoy the parks, garden, see live birds of prey up close, and kayak together.
This 8-week series is taught by a registered dietitian and covers a variety of topics related to nutrition, health, and wellness. Each week come prepared for hands-on interactive activities and to get up and move! Let us help you grow fit and healthy families.

Thurs, Sept 9 to Oct 28, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Think Smart, Eat Smart

During this 9-week series, our registered dietitian will help you overcome sabotaging thoughts and focus on learning how to eat MINDfully and healthfully. The class will help identify the reasons you eat and develop a plan to overcome those habits without relying on willpower alone. Join us to lose weight once and for all! Focus is on the non-diet approach to eating. You will be provided with many tips and resources to use at home to help you in your journey towards change. 

Upon registration of the class, you will be provided a bag with class binder and resources to help along the way. You will be contacted with instructions on where to pick up bag. This class is intended to take 9 weeks and can be done at your own pace.You will be provided with class links for the 9 weeks and an introduction link explaining how it works. You will be able to contact our registered dietitian with any questions you may have throughout the series.

Take It & Make It series

This class is taught by a registered dietitian to help make meal planning easier. You will be provided a bag with class materials, ingredients, and everything needed to meal prep at home. First half of class is done virtual via Microsoft Teams. Second half of class is done on your own time with follow-along link to meal prep in your own kitchen! Get the whole family involved!

Once a month starting in September 2021 and ending in April 2022. Monday nights at 6:30 p.m.

Dec 6 - Topic: Slow Down and Eat Together.  Making: Energy Bites (4 different recipes)

Mon, Dec 6, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Jan 10-  Topic: Steps to Meal Planning.  Making: Muffin-Tin Omelets (4 different recipes)

Feb 21 - Topic: Grocery Shop with Confidence.  Making: Mason Jar Burrito Bowls (4 jars)

March 14 - Topic: Amount Matters- Portion Control. Making: Spring chicken and veggies (4-5 servings)

April 18 - Topic: Smart Snacking. Making: Mason Jar Hummus (4 jars) & Roasted Chickpeas for the week.
