Event Information

Join us for the 2019 Spectrum Health Foundation United and Kelsey Hospitals Charity Ball on Saturday, February 9 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to combat childhood obesity. The evening will include a social hour, silent auction, dinner, program, and the presentation of the Fred and Lena Meijer Spirit of Caring Award.  Be sure to stay later in the evening as the Bluewater Kings Band will provide entertainment and dancing.

The Montcalm County Community Health Needs Assessment identified obesity and weight issues as one of the greatest risk factors in our community. In fact, 16.3 percent of our youth in grades 8 – 12 are obese, which is higher than the rest of Michigan and even the U.S. obesity rates. Only 17.8 percent of our youth eat enough fruits and vegetables and almost 60 percent need more physical activity. Childhood obesity has an immediate and long-term effects on physical, social and emotional health. You can help.

Spectrum Health United Lifestyles is in need of your help to combat childhood obesity and give them the best opportunity for a healthy life. The CATCH® Program stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health and is based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. It is evidence-based and the most cost effective means of preventing childhood obesity, in an environment that is fun and easy to sustain. Your support will:

  • Provide two elementary Montcalm County schools with the CATCH® program
  • Provide The CATCH® program health education in the school environment
  • Encourage family-community involvement through The CATCH® program

Please help prevent childhood obesity by supporting Charity Ball 2019. Your generous support will help children learn healthy lifestyle behaviors.

Tickets must be pre-purchased and are not sold the day of or at the event.
