Your doctor places a thin, flexible tube (catheter) into an artery in your thigh, arm or neck. Then, he or she gently guides the catheter to your heart. Your doctor can use special tools at the tip of the catheter to care for you. When the procedure is done, the catheter is removed.

In most cases, you’ll stay in the hospital for [4 to 7 days] after open heart surgery. Then, you’ll spend several weeks recovering at home.
If you need coronary artery bypass surgery, rest assured you’re working with one of the most experienced surgical teams in Michigan. Our team performs more coronary artery bypass surgeries than anyone else in the state. This experience leads to better results—our patient outcomes are among the best in the nation.
