    Daytime appointments are available Monday to Friday. Services are offered virtually through the Spectrum Health MyChart app or at convenient locations throughout West Michigan. Call 616.391.1875 for more information or to make an appointment. A physician referral is necessary. We recommend patients check with their health insurance provider to confirm coverage of this service.

    Cancer

    As part of your health care team at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion, board certified oncology registered dietitians are available to meet with you one-on-one to discuss your nutrition needs before, during and after cancer treatment: cancer prevention diet guidelines; side effects of treatment (nausea, bowel changes, etc.); special diet concerns; supplements (vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.); swallowing difficulties; tube feeding management; unintentional weight loss.

    Eating disorders

    Work with our experienced dietitians to help you or your loved one through this difficult process for both adults and pediatrics. Dietitians can help with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorders, or even those with non-diagnosed concerns with eating.

    Gastrointestinal disorders

    Dietitians trained in diets specific to gastrointestinal disorders can help make sure you are eating foods appropriate for your condition, including: gluten-free diet for celiac disease or gluten intolerance and FODMAPs diet for irritable bowel syndrome (a newer approach to treating IBS which assesses tolerance to certain fibers and sugars).

    Heart health

    Following a heart-healthy diet can optimize your cardiovascular health. Spectrum Health provides dietary advice for heart disease patients who need to improve their lipids (HDL, LDL, triglycerides and cholesterol levels), as well as for people who want to prevent heart disease in the first place.

    MedGem®

    The MedGem® is a small, handheld instrument which measures individual metabolic rate and can be used to help develop a nutrition plan for weight loss. The measurement can be obtained in approximately 10 minutes.

    Pediatric nutrition

    The nutritional needs of infants, children and adolescents are unique. Our board certified pediatric dietitian works with parents and children to help develop nutritional goals and how to achieve them. Pediatric nutrition counseling includes: allergies, healthy eating guidelines, heart health, tube feeding management, underweight or poor weight gain, vegetarian eating, and weight management.

    Renal or kidney disease
