Any surgery your child may need, from elective to emergency, will be met with highly skilled surgeons who specialize in diagnosing and treating patients from birth to young adulthood. They work with a highly skilled team of medical professionals to meet the unique needs of a child in surgery. This includes operating room nurses, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, pediatric intensivists, pediatric hematologists/oncologists and many other pediatric specialists. 

Elective surgical problems include:

• Hernias (inguinal and abdominal)
• Hydroceles
• Undescended testicles
• Abdominal surgery (including surgery of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, kidney, intestine, colon, anus and retroperitoneum)
• Gastroesophageal reflux/feeding tube placements
• Chest wall reconstruction for pectus excavatum and carinatum (including minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum)
• Thoracic surgery (including thoracoscopy and bronchoscopy)
• Children's cancer surgery (including Wilms tumors and tumors of the neck, chest and abdomen)
• Minimally invasive surgery (including laparoscopy, endoscopy and thoracoscopy)
• Head and neck surgery (including thyroglossal duct and branchial cleft cysts)
• Pediatric gynecology

Urgent or emergent pediatric surgical problems include:

• Evaluation of acute abdominal pain
• Appendicitis
• Bowel obstructions (including pyloric stenosis and intussusception)
• Foreign body obstructions (both airway and esophagus)
• Newborn surgery (for congenital bowel obstructions, diaphragmatic hernia and abdominal wall defects)
• Respiratory distress in newborns and children requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
• Management of pediatric trauma
