Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Treatments
What type of treatment can be done for spider veins?
We utilize two types of treatments for spider veins. We perform both sclerotherapy and laser treatments. At your free consultation with our cosmetic nurse, you will go over a personalized treatment plan, estimated number of treatments needed, and pricing.
Will my spider veins go away after the first treatment?
Results are individual. We do expect fading on the first treatment, but it often takes multiple treatments to see final results.
Do I have to wear compression stockings after spider vein treatment on my legs?
Yes. Patients who have undergone sclerotherapy treatment must wear stockings for 24 hours, then eight hours every day for one week. For patients who have undergone laser treatment, compression is required for two weeks, day and night.
How long do I need to avoid the sun?
Patients who have undergone sclerotherapy treatment will need to avoid the sun for three weeks post treatment. Patients who have undergone laser treatment will need to avoid the sun for four weeks prior and six weeks after treatment.
Will I be in pain after treatment?
Minimal pain is expected during and after treatment. This is a very low risk procedure that is often well tolerated by patients. You can take ibuprofen or Tylenol if you feel any tenderness. Ice is also suggested for discomfort.
Are sclerotherapy injections permanent?
Spider vein treatments work to eliminate faulty veins. Depending on the number of spider veins in an area repeat injections may be needed. In the future other spider veins can appear, so it is important to talk with your provider about prevention.
