Why did you choose Spectrum Health?
As a leading medical institution in West Michigan, Spectrum Health is a clear choice for any prospective post-graduate medical trainee. The breath of experience that can be garnered during a resident's time here was clear from the start. The combination of medical excellence, academic focus, mentorship, facility support and overall collegial atmosphere creates an apt environment for success. Spectrum Health is a model institution that strives to be a leader in the healthcare industry while maintaining strong ties with the community that it was born to. It is a place that can withstand the tests and challenges of the future, a place that I knew would help nurture the future that awaits me in the life after training.

What do you like most about your program?
As a former resident of the Spectrum Health Neurology Program, I had the privilege of working closely with the Epilepsy team during my residency training. I knew first hand that that the greatest asset of this program is it's people.  From the leadership and administration, to the core faculty and staff, I knew that my education and experience during my time here would always be at the forefront of the program's mission. To have an opportunity to be part of something great, I hope that I too may have the chance to be part of the building process for the benefit of future learners to come.

    Living in West Michigan:
West Michigan is home to some of the most caring and family oriented people I've ever encountered. Grand Rapids itself is a gem of a city that brags diversity, exploration, history and fun.

Hobbies: I love coffee and reading and this city is sprinkled with amazing coffee shops. They all have a unique character to match the pace that I am feeling at any give time. To add to the adventure, many of these coffee shops are pet friendly! This is certainly a winner for my two puppies who frequently accompany me and enjoy a Sunday afternoon snooze as I gobble up a new book, washed down by a nutella cappuccino.
