    Hometown: Dakota Dunes, SD

Medical school: Creighton University School of Medicine

Why did you choose Spectrum Health for your residency/fellowship? I chose Spectrum Health because of their incredible reputation as an excellent training center for colon and rectal surgeons. I sought out a program that would provide me with a broad exposure to all aspects of colon and rectal surgery and Spectrum Health has just that.

What are your clinical interests? My clinic interests fall within colon  and rectal surgery with a focus on enhanced recovery pathways and also the complex treatment of rectal cancer.

Hobbies: My hobbies include anything and everything outdoors; hiking, running, cycling, soccer, paddle boarding, camping. I also enjoy reading and photography. When I am not doing those I am playing fetch with my cocker spaniel who never seems to lose energy.

Why did you choose Spectrum Health for your residency/fellowship? I was impressed with the comprehensive training in terms of clinical work, dedicated education and research. Even though I interviewed virtually, I could tell the fellows were happy with their choice and that the surgeons were fun and well-accomplished.

What are your clinical interests? Watchful waiting in rectal cancer, Diverticulitis, early screening for colorectal cancer and robotic surgery are my current clinical interests.

Hobbies: I enjoy cooking, traveling and DIY projects. My wife and I have been fostering dogs and cats since 2019, but have recently taken a break since the arrival of our son.
