Fellowship programs

Corewell Health in West Michigan is committed to medical education and exceptional patient care for our community. We have 414 residents and fellows, representing 37 ACGME-accredited programs, that experience innovative training led by dedicated faculty within world-class facilities. Through our partnership with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Corewell Health continues to advance medical education in West Michigan.

Our fellowship programs are devoted to improving health, instilling humanity and inspiring hope. We live our mission every day as the area’s largest multispecialty group spanning 13 West Michigan counites, with more than 2,000 physicians and advanced practice providers. Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship
A one-year subspecialty fellowship designed to train cardiologists in the management of patients with advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation and pulmonary hypertension.

Colorectal Surgery
The Spectrum Health/Michigan State University Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship is a one-year ACGME accredited program that accepts two fellows each year.
Epilepsy
The epilepsy fellowship at Spectrum Health is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program that accepts two fellows per year.

Hospice and Palliative Medicine
The hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Spectrum Health is an ACGME-accredited one-year program located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Infectious Disease
Infectious Disease Fellowship is organized to provide training and supervised experiences for fellows to acquire the competency of a specialist in the field of infectious diseases.
Interventional Cardiology
A one-year subspecialty fellowship designed to train individuals to perform interventional procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Fellows will train at the largest medical center in West Michigan, which is affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Pediatric Cardiology
The pediatric cardiology fellowship at Spectrum Health is a three year program accepting two fellows per year.
Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
A comprehensive training program designed to develop leaders in the science and art of pediatric critical care medicine.
Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Train at the state-of-the-art pediatric emergency department at Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital (part of Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals) and at our adult counterpart, Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital (part of Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals).
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Trains physician scientists through an integrated curriculum of excellence in medical care and exceptional research opportunities.
Pediatric Hospital Medicine
The fellowship offers complete clinical, educational and scholarly programs in our state-of-the-art, freestanding children’s hospital.
Pediatric Infectious Disease
Trains fellows to become leaders in the specialty of pediatric infectious diseases who provide excellent clinical care and contribute to high-quality research, academics, public health and industry.
Pediatric Pulmonology
Trains physician-leaders who will incorporate cutting edge research and technology into their practice, to help kids breath better.
Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine
A broad experience in acute and chronic respiratory conditions, critical care and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in world-class facilities with cutting-edge technology.
Surgical Critical Care
Train individuals in a broad range of disciplines essential to the care of the critically ill and injured patient, with two fellowship positions per year.
Thoracic Surgery
This two-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education program prepares our physicians for certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Vascular Neurology
Provides a broad clinical and academic experience that encompasses all aspects of care in vascular neurological disorders.
Vascular Surgery
A large case experience, clinical research and a new simulation center contribute to a well-rounded experience and the opportunity to become a vascular surgery specialist.
