 Fit and Healthy Families

Join us and take a break from screen time by getting active outside with your family. This fun-filled program is for elementary aged kids and their families, to help them live healthier lifestyles. Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital is excited to partner with the Outdoor Discovery Center and hit the trails, enjoy the parks, garden, see live birds of prey and kayak. This 8 week series is taught by a registered dietitian and covers a variety of topics related to nutrition, health and wellness. Each week come prepared for hands-on interactive activities and to get up and move!

Thurs, Sept 5 to Oct 24, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Healthy Habits - One Step at a Time

This walking support group is for anyone who is working toward achieving and/or maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Come to walk and discuss challenges and strategies related to healthy eating, weight management, wellness and handling stress, while getting your steps in for the day! This group is led by a registered dietitian. Registration required; register at any time throughout the year.

Wednesdays, Weekly 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Fee: Free 

Joint Replacement Pre-Op Class

Individuals scheduled for total knee or hip joint replacement surgery learn about the procedure and rehabilitation process. The class is taught by a nurse, physical therapist and occupational therapist. A support person is encouraged to attend.

Tai Chi - Beginner Part 1

Joint-friendly exercise recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for improving balance, increasing flexibility and reducing arthritis pain and stiffness.  Movements can be done seated or standing.  Soft sole shoes and water bottle recommended.

Tai Chi for Diabetes

Tai Chi for Diabetes is easy to learn and designed to prevent and improve the control of diabetes.  The program will help minimize the risk of complications of diabetes by improving heart/lung function, muscular strength, flexibility, balance and stress reduction.  You do not need to have a diagnosis of diabetes to benefit from this class.

Playing Tai Chi

For those who have completed the Zeeland Community Hospital intermediate level class and want to practice and refine the forms they have learned.

A 10-class punch card is available for those who have completed both the beginner and intermediate levels to attend any class. Card expires December 31, 2019.
