Reach Out & Read Art Contest
Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Pediatrics and the Reach Out & Read team are looking for literacy-based artwork to be displayed in the waiting area of our pediatrics office. Student-generated art based on books will support the Reach Out & Read message that literacy is a vital component of children's health.
Students in K-12 who live in Mason, Lake or Oceana counties are invited to create a piece of artwork inspired by a favorite book. Students are encouraged to think about books they have recently read. We are looking for art that speaks to the entire local pediatrics population from pre-school aged children to teens.
Artwork should represent a favorite book or share a particular scene from a favorite book without using words, although minimal words are allowed within the artwork.
Contest judges will consider the following areas when choosing pieces for the pediatrics office:
- Best personal impression
- Most unique interpretation
- Most creative
Submissions should be a minimum size of 9"x12" and up to 11"x14" and may be created with any medium.
The artwork will be judged/chosen by our pediatrics staff and members of the Reach Out & Read team. 13 winners will be chosen.
Artwork will be framed and winning pieces will be displayed in the waiting area of Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Pediatrics. Other entries may also be displayed in the office and submissions may be posted on social media.
Students whose artwork is chosen for display will each receive a gift certificate to Storybook Village of Pentwater.
