2017 Pharmacy Residents
My name is Andrea Borst. I grew up in Denver, Colorado, but I have lived in the West Michigan area for the past 9 years. I attended Hope College where I obtained by Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and I earned my PharmD at Ferris State University. After pharmacy school, I completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Spectrum Health, and I am now the PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Resident at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Within pediatrics, my interest areas include critical care (PICU/NICU) and emergency medicine. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, golfing, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends and family. I also love to travel and explore new cities.
Christopher DeWaldMy name is Christopher DeWald and I recently graduated from the University of Michigan. Before pharmacy school, I attended Grand Valley State University and earned my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. During my time as an undergrad, I played on the GVSU club baseball team for two years. I am originally from Menominee, MI, which is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Professionally, I am interested in pursuing a PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care. In my free time I enjoy playing intramural sports and staying active by exercising and weight lifting. I also like to go out and try new restaurants and breweries with friends.
Hello! My name is Surin and I am so excited to work with you all at Spectrum Health this year. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, but I have lived in Ann Arbor for the past 9 years. I went to U of M for both undergrad and pharmacy school (Go Blue!). I am still trying to decide what I want to pursue after my PGY1 year, but my current interests are in oncology, cardiology and maybe pediatrics. I really enjoyed my bone marrow transplant and CV-ICU rotations during APPEs, and I am looking forward to gaining some pediatrics experience this year. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading, running, yoga, and hanging out with my friends and family. I also love to travel and I am always looking for recommendations on great places to visit!
My name is Phuc Nguyen and I am extremely excited to start my PGY1 at Spectrum Health. I am originally from Lansing, Michigan, completed my pre-pharmacy studies at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), and obtained my PharmD at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am excited to share and apply what I’ve learned through my experience working with a diverse and challenging patient population to the patients at Spectrum Health. My current pharmacy interests are ambulatory oncology and transplant. Pharmacy has such an extensive impact in these areas especially in regards to supportive care and medication safety and I enjoy contributing to that. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new breweries/restaurants with friends, eating more than I work out, volleyball, hiking, and instigating any Michigan sports rivalries. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning under your guidance!
My name is Stephanee Schrader and I am from Niles, Michigan. I attended and obtained by BS in Biomedical Science from GVSU (GO LAKERS!) and my Doctorate of Pharmacy from Manchester University College of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. My areas of interest include critical care and emergency medicine. Outside of pharmacy, I love to read (Jodi Picoult is my favorite author), exercise, try new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends.
