Culture

The need to feel respected, understood and loved is universal. At Spectrum Health, we recognize we have an awesome responsibility not only to provide care but to make people feel cared for. Because caring for others starts with you.

There is a difference between hearing and listening. Hearing is something that happens automatically, while listening is something one chooses to do in order to understand. At Spectrum Health, team members’ insight provides knowledge and information that helps guide Spectrum Health in making decisions. Our leadership values this feedback so much that it is included as a corporate strategy metric.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is about people. People treating people equally. People focused on the good things that come from our diversity, both internally and in our community. People focused on helping other people. Spectrum Health is committed to health equity, making sure everyone has access to affordable and quality health care.

Within our community, Spectrum Health has employee-led inclusion resource groups (IRGs) around common demographics, characteristics or shared interests. IRGs are successful when they leverage the strength of their diversity to help the organization grow.

From swinging jump ropes to providing medical attention at road races, there will be a volunteer opportunity that interests you! We are committed to our community, and through that commitment comes opportunities for our team members to be engaged and give back.

Through onsite blood drives at many of our Spectrum Health locations, our team members continue to give back and save lives. On average, Spectrum Health hosts one blood drive every three days at one our locations. This partnership is crucial for our patients’ lives and we are thankful to have team members who feel the same.
