Meet the Aero Med team

Our team consists of a dedicated team of medical professionals, pilots, aircraft maintenance and flight communications professionals. 

Medical team

Our medical team consists of two certified flight registered nurses with paramedic certifications. Our teams specialize in the transport of the most critically ill patients, including adults and children. We have extensive training and experience in medication drip management, ventilator and airway management, and trauma care.

Our flight nurses are required to hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN), and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).

Pilots

Our pilots are highly experienced and trained in both military and EMS aviation.

  • Possess Airline Transport Pilot certificates
  • Hold FAA-approved Instrument Flight Rule ratings
  • Undergo flight simulator training for emergency procedures every six months
  • Retain the responsibility and authority to accept, reject or cancel a flight based on weather conditions or safety considerations

Maintenance

Our maintenance technicians that are responsible for maintaining each aircraft in the Aero Med fleet.

  • FAA-licensed as Airframe and Power Plant mechanics
  • Factory trained on all Aero Med aircraft and engines
  • FAA inspection authorization rated
  • An average of 20 years’ experience in helicopter maintenance

Flight communications

When a call comes into our communications center, the flight communication specialist is responsible for processing the request. From start to finish they are responsible for the logistics of the flight.

  • Available 24 hours, seven days per week
  • Provide a single contact source for transports
  • Coordinated communications between sending and receiving facilities
  • Communications specialists monitor and utilize eight radio frequencies and 10+ phone lines
  • Monitor and track each aircraft using satellite GPS
  • Responsible for coordinating both air and ground transports involving Aero Med medical teams
