Sports Nutrition: Nutrition Coaching for the Serious Athlete to the Exercise Enthusiast

Combining the proper nutrition with exercise can lead to improved performance and recovery. Spectrum Health offers sports nutrition counseling from our registered dietitians for high school, college or professional athletes and exercise enthusiasts.

Eating Disorders

Work with our experienced dietitians to help you or your loved one through this difficult process for both adults and pediatrics. Dietitians can help with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorders, or even those with non-diagnosed concerns with eating.

Cancer

As part of your health care team at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion, board certified oncology registered dietitians are available to meet with you one-on-one to discuss your nutrition needs before, during and after cancer treatment: cancer prevention diet guidelines; side effects of treatment (nausea, bowel changes, etc.); special diet concerns; supplements (vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.); swallowing difficulties; tube feeding management; unintentional weight loss.

Heart Health

Following a heart-healthy diet can optimize your cardiovascular health. Spectrum Health provides dietary advice for heart disease patients who need to improve their lipids (HDL, LDL, triglycerides and cholesterol levels), as well as for people who want to prevent heart disease in the first place.

Pediatric Nutrition

The nutritional needs of infants, children and adolescents are unique. Our board certified pediatric dietitian works with parents and children to help develop nutritional goals and how to achieve them. Pediatric nutrition counseling includes: allergies, healthy eating guidelines, heart health, tube feeding management, underweight or poor weight gain, vegetarian eating, and weight management.

Gastrointestinal Disorders

Dietitians trained in diets specific to gastrointestinal disorders can help make sure you are eating foods appropriate for your condition, including: gluten-free diet for celiac disease or gluten intolerance and FODMAPs diet for irritable bowel syndrome (a newer approach to treating IBS which assesses tolerance to certain fibers and sugars).

Renal or Kidney Disease

Seek help through the many dietary restrictions with kidney disease by talking with a Registered Dietitian on how to best manage your diet.
