About Our Service
Certified nurse midwives promote individualized care for women throughout the stages of life from puberty through menopause. Our certified nurse midwives are passionate about educating patients so that women understand their bodies and their diagnosis, and they work in collaboration with our physicians to ensure seamless care for a vast range of medical or surgical needs.
Our CNMs are highly qualified to care for you. Our CNMs are independent health care providers with graduate degrees in advanced practice nursing, are licensed with the State of Michigan and certified through the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).
If you choose to partner with a certified nurse midwife for your prenatal care and the birth of your baby, you will gain a strong advocate for natural birth and personalized care.
Features of Midwifery
Our certified nurse midwifes provide labor and delivery support. Your CNM provides that extra layer of support and advocacy for a natural birth experience in a hospital setting. If you need a surgical delivery or a cesarean section, your CNM will work together with an obstetrical surgeon to provide a safe delivery for you and your baby.
Spectrum Health supports expectant mothers who desire as natural of a childbirth experience as possible when they deliver in our hospitals. Butterworth Hospital is proud to offer a new option for a natural childbirth experience with two natural birthing suites for women with low-risk pregnancies.
After birth, certified nurse midwives assist you with physical and emotional recovery, and lactation support through the first year postpartum (fourth trimester).
Our certified nurse midwives believe that childbirth is a normal physiologic process. Partnering with a CNM will assure that all of your pregnancy questions are answered and allow time to discuss ways to prepare for a healthy birthing experience.
Our certified nurse midwives provide individualized care for contraception, preconception planning, hormonal issues, as well as gynecologic exams and alternate holistic approaches for women’s health.
