About Your Care and Condition

Scoliosis has abnormally curved your spine. If it's minor and doesn't hurt, it's often fine to just keep an eye on it. Some scoliosis is painful and gets worse. The earlier you're diagnosed, the more options we can explore.

Your scoliosis may be structural (inherited or injury) or nonstructural (from an underlying condition, such as arthritis or osteoporosis). Most causes are unknown (idiopathic), but in all cases the spine curves in a “C” or “S” shape. When scoliosis hurts, it may be progressing, even into adulthood. Other complications such as disk degeneration can be in play.
