High-Risk Pregnancy Care

Special Care for Women With Complicated Pregnancies

When it comes to pregnancy, our focus is on the health and well-being of the mother and baby. A maternal-fetal medicine specialist understands the unique challenges of a high-risk pregnancy. The fellowship-trained maternal fetal medicine specialists at Spectrum Health provide care for high-risk pregnant women and women with chronic illnesses considering pregnancy.

Maternal-fetal medicine specialists provide care for both the mother and fetus (unborn baby) in a complicated pregnancy. Special education and training are required and our specialists have completed two to three years of a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship and four years of obstetrics and gynecology residency training. Through fellowship training, maternal-fetal medicine specialists gain special competence in various obstetrical, medical and surgical complications of pregnancy.

High-Risk Pregnancy Care

If needed, our high-risk obstetrics providers work with other medical specialists to coordinate care during pregnancy and birth, and throughout the newborn period. This multispecialty system of care allows for the best outcomes in a complicated pregnancy.
