Co-Chair, Clinical Neurosciences
Kost Elisevich, MD, PhD, serves as co-chair of the department of clinical neurosciences and as chief, division of neurosurgery, for Spectrum Health Medical Group, a multispecialty group practice with more than 600 providers. Spectrum Health Medical Group is part of Spectrum Health, a not-for-profit, integrated system in West Michigan. Dr. Elisevich specializes in epilepsy, brain tumors, pain and headache disorders. He is widely recognized and published as a leader in the field of neurosurgery.
Areas of Responsibility
Dr. Elisevich serves as co-chair of the department of clinical neuroscience and as chief, division of neurosurgery, for Spectrum Health Medical Group. He specializes in epilepsy, brain tumors, pain and headache disorders.
Dr. Elisevich obtained his medical degree and doctorate in neuroanatomy from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. There, he was the recipient of the Bertram Collip Medal and the University and Centennial Scholarship from the Medical Research Council of Canada. Dr. Elisevich completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute and other McGill University-affiliated hospitals.
Dr. Elisevich has practiced neurosurgery and conducted clinical and basic neuroscientific research for over 30 years in the United States and Canada. He comes to the Spectrum Health Medical Group most recently from the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit where he served as system director of epilepsy and functional neurosurgery.
Dr. Elisevich has been certified both by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and by the American College of Surgeons.
