All chest pain is cause for concern, but it doesn't always indicate a heart attack. We use a systematic approach to evaluate and treat chest pain and other potential heart attack symptoms. In fact, we are a leader in the nation in speed to successfully treat heart attacks. That means you receive the right treatment at the right time.
If a heart attack is confirmed, we initiate your care during the critical early stages when treatments are most effective.
Collaboration between our Butterworth Hospital emergency department and the Meijer Heart Center is the key to the Wege Chest Pain Center's success. The center is within the Butterworth Hospital emergency department next to Meijer Heart Center. The 12-bed facility is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and emergency nurses, each of whom can provide emergency cardiovascular care. Heart consultation is available at all times.
The percentage of heart attack patients who receive percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 90 minutes of arrival is better than the national and state percentage. Median time to PCI is 56 minutes. PCI helps to restore blood flow to the area of the heart that has lost blood supply, decreasing the likelihood of damage to the heart.
Our chest pain center was the first accredited chest pain center in Michigan. It remains West Michigan's only 24-hour, seven-day chest pain center.
