About Butterworth Hospital
Butterworth Hospital is one of four facilities that make up Spectrum Health Medical Center. Our rich history dates back to 1873. Over the last century, we have grown into a regional leader in care, diagnostics, treatment, prevention and education. Today, Butterworth Hospital is a clinical leader in cardiovascular, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedics, neurosciences, and trauma and emergency care services, among many others.
The Wege Foundation Chest Pain Center, a collaboration between the Butterworth Hospital Emergency Department and the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center, provides immediate heart attack assessment and treatment 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and is the only nationally accredited chest pain center in Grand Rapids. The Family Birthplace at Butterworth Hospital delivers more than 7,000 babies annually and is connected to the Gerber Foundation Neonatal Center, a Level III neonatal intensive care united, offering the highest level of care for at risk newborns.
Spectrum Health's Level I Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center also are located at Butterworth Hospital.
