Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE)

Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE)

The acute care of the elderly (ACE) unit at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital is dedicated to recognizing and responding to the unique needs of elderly patients with serious illness or injury. Our nurses and staff are highly trained in caring for geriatric patients who are frail or have cognitive impairment.

We have a dedicated care team that includes a nurse care facilitator, clinical nurse specialist, educator, social worker and a geriatric-certified pharmacist on the unit.
The goal of the ACE unit is to keep our patients functioning at the level they were before entering the hospital. Our compassionate care respects the dignity of older adults and assists in maintaining their independence. We also recognize the importance of family in the healing process, so relatives are welcomed and highly encouraged to spend time with their loved one.

The unit offers heart monitoring, is certified in heart failure care and each room is equipped with walkers and commodes to encourage mobility. We offer 21 private rooms, flat screen TVs and free wireless Internet access.
